Our Kardhai collection showcases "Ajrak" and the “Thari” embroidery of Tharparkar, Sindh. One of the least developed areas of Pakistan that sports the most culturally rich folk embroidery and warm hearted people.
The Thari embroidery originated in Sindh descending from the Indus Valley Civilisation as a cultural practice. The embroidery carries motifs and symbols that signify fertility, joy and wisdom. Embroidery is part of the daily rituals of the women of Sindh, creating pieces of art through thread and needle with love and affection for their family and animals. Today, the Thari embroidery is done by Sindhi women with such precision that it can not easily be distinguished from machine and is their main form of employment.
The people of Tharparkar express their feelings through embroidery and the skill is passed generationally. As it evolves with time, our Kardhai collection aims to protect the value of this heritage craft and celebrate the individuality of its people.
It is not only an artisanal work of craft but also a labor of love.
